Appeal Court Sacks Ekiti PDP Senator

June 30, 2009 14:18, 596 views

By Stephen Oni, Ilorin

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, this morning sacked Senator Femi Kila representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

In the judgment delivered by Justice Sontoye Denton-West, with Justice Jumai Anat Osagie and Justice Ignatius Agobe as members of the team, the court ruled that Bode Ola, the Action Congress candidate in the 2007 Senatorial election in Ekiti State won the election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Kila, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate winner of the election.

Ola challenged the verdict at the Election Petition Tribunal and the mater dragged all the way to the Appeal Court which upturned Kila’s victory today.

Reacting to the judgement, Lagos lawyer Mr. Femi Falana, said: “Under the doctrine of lis pendens, Mr. Femi Kila should refund the salaries and allowances he has collected while he was parading himself as a senator.”

Senator Kila was one of the PDP chieftains in Ekiti State who mobilised supporters for the Ekiti governorship election rerun on 25 April this year which was marred by violence, ballot stuffing and snatching among other malpractices.

The end has justified the means, Kiler never had good reputation, when he was chief engineer in Julius
Berger, he was known as anti-labour crusader. He was always in support of enslaving nigerians by the Germans.
This is just the begining of his fall, no amount of weapons or juju will resque him from distruction. he never had good intention for his people. Only a part like PDP (People Distructive Part) will feed in the kind of Kiler , Arise and Omisore as senator.

The Senator didn’t settle or is it a case of the judiciary living up to expectation?
whichever, good for the country.., and gradually, the PDP will be uprooted from the land.

    OOOOOOOOOOOO God,
    SWEET SWEET BUT DELAYED JUSTICE.
THIS IS GOOD FOR OUR DEMOCRACY ESPECIALLY FOR OUR OWN DEAR EKITI.
I FELICITATE WITH ALL EKITI KETES AND URGE THE DULY ELECTED SENATOR TO BE MORE VIGILANT.
ON THE ‘AYOKA’ VICTORY,LET’S KEEP OUR FINGERS CROSSED.
OBJ AND HIS CO-TRAVELLERS HAVE TAKEN NIGERIA BACK BY 60 YEARS.
BUT AM SURE CHANGE IS COMING SOOOOOON.

Good ! One by one ,all these bandits ( PDP men ) will be flushed out. Election riggers will soon have no place to hide. After maiming people, performing rituals and rigging elections, they will all go to Churches and Mosques to go and do Thanksgiving; you think you are deceiving God ? No, you are only mocking yourselves and God is watching you all.

Once again, Bravo to all men of conscience still making waves in the Judiciary. God will continue to give you the courage to perform your duties without fear or favour. Remain blessed.

Sooner or later, God Almighty will expose all of these PDP men and women ( who have looted the Country dry ) or send them all to a bottomless abyss where they will be consigned to the dustbin of history in Jesus Name, Amen.

Hon Bode Ola, Congratulations O jare ! God be with you.

God’s judgement will definitely catch up with you and we will be delivered from your cruel and tyranical rule in Ekiti State. We will move forward.

This is indeed an irony. A ’senator’ trying hard to get someone ‘elected’ by any means necessary only to be reminded later that his ‘mandate’ isnt really his in the first place. Nigeria, U too much.

Something is fundamentally wrong with Ekiti. With all these losses PDP is suffering left right and center, need we say anything more about the gubernatorial elections. By inference and deductive reasoning it appears there’s still a case of stolen mandate! Fayemi take heart but remember : truth crushed to the earth shall rise again. Where is the Christian conscience of the dogs of war masquerading as winners? Haba!

they(pdp robbers) robbed the people of this country their legitimate votes in 2007 and in the subsequent elcctions held.they forgot that whatever goes round always comes round.they have stolen the hen of wretched man peace has eluded them, chikenna

    30 June 2009 22:13

This is a very good development for Ekiti people and AC. I congratulate Bode Ola, the authentic Senator. I pray that teh trend continues so that all the mandate thiefs that are parading themselves as people representatives will be wiped out in Ekiti so that that Ekiti will have peace. This should send a signal to Segun Oni & Cohorts that this is the beginning of
the end for PDP misrule in Ekiti state. Ayo Arise too should buckle up to return the stolen mandate.

his name is kila squad, and it is time for the good people of Ekiti to kill this kila beast of national killing party-pdp, that has so far traumatised the state. All pdp senators are crooks as above kila. maybe a senator by title is different from a law making designate. but in nigeria, they are loots & dupes! woe to the family that beggat such.

I HAVE SAID IT THAT THE JUDICIARY IS THE BEDROCK OF OUR DEMOCRACY. IT SHOULD BE ABOVE BOARD AND CONTINUE TO BE THE HOPE OF THE COMMON MAN.

KILA HAS KILLED HIMSELF THIS TIME. HE SHOULD BE MADE TO PAY ALL SALARIES HE HAS COLLECTED TO DATE.

why justice was so delayed? incompetent and inconsistence of justics

  35. dayo akinwumi

    1 July 2009 09:09

The judgement is good for democracy. Femi Kila had represented Ekiti well expecially by lobbying fed gov in awarding Ifaki-ikole-kaba and erimo-efon road construction. He was the vice chairman of works committee in the senate. He left Julius Berger as the Chief Engineer and the first black to occupy the post to contest as senator. An excellent senior colleague in the proffession. Third mainland bridge and many more are part of his contribution to the development of this country.

PM should be proffessional in their reporting instead of being petty and jaundice as shown at the tale end of the story above.

Dayo Akinwumi thank you for the positive comment today, which is different from your other comments. Femi Kila may be very good as person but the process and malpractises that declared him is what the people did not like.

@dayo akinwumi and so? The sack dented all his purported achievement… He is never a senator mind u.. he was an imposer courtesy of INEC rigging. if I may ask you, what is PM there? abi na PM go influence the judgement so that they see something to write?
