Adeboye Shops For $20m Jet

By Adetutu Audu
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, is shopping for $20 million to buy a private jet.
The private jet, P.M.News gathered, is to facilitate his trips to many parts of the world where the parishes of the church are located.
Already, members of the RCCG worldwide have been planning to ‘sow seeds’ towards the project.
The humble mathematician turned pastor, we learnt, has the vision to spread the gospel to the outermost part of the earth and he is not resting on his oars to achieve this feat.
RCCG is one of the fastest growing churches in the country. There are branches in London, United States and Middle East.
Daddy G.O, as he is fondly called, was barely 31 years old when he bagged his doctorate degree in Hydrodynamics. He had an encounter with the Lord in 1973. He answered the altar call, and with a strong zeal for the Lord, he has since, never looked back.
The mantle of leadership fell on Adeboye, then a University of Lagos lecturer , in 1980 after the death of the founder of RCCG, Rev. Josiah Akindayomi.
Ever since he attained the leadership of the church, he has brought several innovations and programmes into the church through which the church has continued to grow.
From the 39 parishes of the church which he inherited, the church has grown in leaps and bounds with branches all over the world.

15 July 2008 16:38I know that this story may generate negtaive comments. But if there is someone who is modest and humble, a true model s Daddy GO. I can imagine that he may not even be using that plane as much as his workers and pastors. May God cause other pastors to emulate this gentle man of God. Sir, I wish you more years in the Lord’s vineyard. Happy Bday to Mummy GO. Please remain strong in the Lord and keep your modesty.

15 July 2008 16:41GOOD IDEAR BUT THE COST OF MAINTANING A PLANE AND FLYING AROUND THE WORLD IS VERY EXPENSIVE. I THINK THE MONEY SHOULFOR BE USED 4 THOSE WHO ARE LESS PREVILGE AND SPEND IN EDUCATION, CREATING JOS,ETC

15 July 2008 17:48Helloooooooooooooo
Either devil likes it or not, Papa deserves to ride on private. Though, trillions of Nigerians are suffery ooooooooooooooooooooooo. But much till need to be done about that.
But to my surprise, how do PM News hear about this? Words dey spread ooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Amebo dey for RCCG. I command also Amebos of RCCG to keep their mouth shut anytime something of this kind is hear. God is in control. I love RCCG but some members are bad just like Judas who betrayed Jesus Christ. Nigerians are not really good in giving to the less privilege. Pastors would see passengers stranded on the highway instead to render an assistance they will zoom up. Fear God and help your neighbours.

15 July 2008 17:59Daddy G.O you need it, but what effort have you been doing to eradicate poverty in this country. And your best friends were those that made Nigerians to die everyday in proverty. They put nigerians in these problem by their fraudulent behaviour. people like Obasanjo, Daniel, Duke and so on. It pains my heart when i saw the picture you took with them. God help you sha!

15 July 2008 18:01Ok, we don hear una o. Make e go use im church member money buy special jet. God dey look all of us.
Emmanuel
15 July 2008 18:26The church can use that money to build schools and hosiptals in rural and remote areas in the country. RCCG should emulate what the early missionaries like the Catholics, Anglicans etc did. They did not preach the gospel in cities only. The Pope do not own a plane, enough of the new churches preaching salvation through money.

15 July 2008 19:21Churches and pastors should think of alleviating the suffering of the poor instead of acquiring private jets.

15 July 2008 19:57Hhmmmmmmm !! God will save Nigerians from all these pretenders called G.O’s. This is outrageos. May Fela Anikulapo soul rest in Perfect Peace. All this Pastors lives fat on members’ sweat while the destitutes and disoriented race called worshipers are blind to all these charades. In oversea Countries, Nigerian are regarded as smart 419, but what outside world fail to understand is that 80% of Nigerians are MUGU/ MAGA. … Which Evangelism. This man decieved Obasanjo for 8 years, that all is well when all were not well. God, through the so called man of God annoited all the Presidential aspirant at the same time, and gave them message of hope same time. Odili’s case more glaring, even told him he’s favoured. Where is the reflection of the Surity in the word of God?? We should just stop decieving ourselves. Most worrisome is the fact that educated ones are the main Mugu. This man called Adeboye, in his pretending capacity never come straight on any issue in this country for once, During the third Third Term Agenda, he kept mute while some fearless ones were voicing fire against the presidency. Who is he serving? God? Which God? am sure is just a Propanganda. I beg, stop praising falsehood in this country.

16 July 2008 05:56Sirs, How is this news? While the headline could be acceptable for a tabloid story, the contents seems too phony. More than it not been news, it may make many people view the Pastor in bad light as just another ‘prosperity pastor’ when that is not the case.

16 July 2008 08:51Re: ADEBOYE searching for $20Million dollars private Jet
If it’s the pope who is the general overseer of the Catholic Church that want to purchase this type of Jet it will not make any head news .
this man of God deserve this in as much as the churh members does not see this as financial burden on them who are we to complain. l can only appeal to the people even the PM news to contribute generously to this worthy project..
Iknow that a community of God-seekers is a graet shelter for man.PAA AdEBOYE DESERVES THE GIFT.

16 July 2008 12:23I just wonder why people are hyping this issue out of proportion, is he the first person to acquire a jet, morever, the jet is a church property and not a personal one, am sure if its a personal one Daddy G.O will buy it without seeking for contribution. This is for God’s work. People like Don Mike can share their opinion and should please respect other people’s choice of worship and giving and stop calling educated people mugu and all that.
Daddy G.O as the Spirit leads, we will contribute towards this project and May God continue to use you, Amen.

16 July 2008 12:30Baba Adeboye is one of the most respectable and dependable man of God of our time. I am 100% sure that the plane is not for ego-boosting. Rather it is to be used for gospel propagation. God bless Baba Adeboye. May the Lord grant His Church this desire. Amen.

16 July 2008 13:51Quite interesting!!! a $20m jet to make the gospel spread faster around the world. indeed we need not look further for the solution to our problem as Nigerians. hypocrisy oozes out of the comments i have read above. for heavens sake, when will we nigerian be wise? i mean what gospel needs a $20m jet if not a financial empowerment gospel. we are all disoriented from the real gospel. how can the G.O justify the use of $20m to buy a jet (amongst other maintenance costs) when the greater percentage of his people are still living under $10 a week? can the G.O honestly vouch that some of the funds used in maintaining his ‘wealthy gospel’ have not come from dubious politicians? will the $20m not bring hope to about a hundred thousand people if properly invested? what other gospel will make his followers happy if he spends more of the money changing their life with tangible contributions rather than the boring messages of hope? what else can sooth a suffering man other than the hope message from a man they trust? it only needs a little insight to see that more people worship pastors than they worship Jesus.
Anyways, this is not new. my people were robbed by the white colonialist due to educational ignorance. our politician deprive us because there is no consensus against corruption. the religious heads are now taking their own share from the ever vulnerable nigerian masses. since religion is the only hope left after deprievement by the politicians, i do not blame most people for thinking a $20m jet for their pastor is an elevation of ranks towards the Almighty. The earlier we liberalise our minds, the better for most of us!

16 July 2008 13:55don mike,i accept your logic.u are right.it is so sad that in nigeria has fallen to the level where everything is laballed ”it is the lord’s doing”!which lord?people are being deceived!this adeboye man is busy causing grief along the lagos-ibadan express way!,he is busy building private universities and charging exorbitant fees!he is just a business man!his church is one of the worst concentration of hypocrites and bigoted fanatics!it is such a shame!people are still dying of malaria and hunger and what does mr.adeboye want?,a private jet!i am nauseous!
Ayo
16 July 2008 14:26I believe this is truly anointed man of God and he deserve a brand new private jet. There are several people in Nigeria with private jet and this is not a big deal. Solomon and Abraham are the richest in there own time and “who truly serve God in good faith will surely reap the good of the land” Please stop insinuation about the man of God. Please note that i am not a member of RCCG. May God almighty grant you your hearth desire and continue to pray for our country Nigeria.

16 July 2008 14:39As it is written in Psalm 138: 8, The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me, thy mercy of the Lord endureth for ever… Its God that started it and He will be able to complete it. I wish to sow in to this laudable project. Praise God

16 July 2008 15:32Buying a 20million dollars jet to enhance the spreading of the Gospel of God is not a bad thing. Therefore I implore men of goodwill to contribute to this worthy project. But to attract God’s blessing, such contributions should be made from monies stolen from public covers…………

16 July 2008 15:54may the almighty God continue to strenghthen the G.O Amen.what is wrong with the plane?both jet and plane must surely stop at the port of call first after which we can enter vehicle to our different destinations.am sure the jet can not move from city to city?so what is the need for a jet when milions of Nigerians are in abject poverty.every day we complain of bad motorable roads, unstable electricity, pipe borne waters, hungers, unemployement etc and we shift all the blames on the government.who are the government?we are all the government so I presumed the money should be used to change the welfare of the good people of Nigeria. If not i know that even God almighty we not be happy with that developement of buying a private where people are suffering every day in and out in Nigeria.I therefore suggest that the G.O needs a re_think on this issue.may God help us all Amen and remember the kingdom of heaven is at hand and we shall all give the good and bad accont of all our deeds while on earth.therefore I strongly recomend that jet is not the option now.remain blessed

16 July 2008 16:02It’s a good desire if that is how the Lord is leading him.
As a Christian I am careful at passing comments on whatever the men of God do.
I think our ‘men of God’ shoukld be careful about their association with world political leaders especially the corrupt ones in Nigeria. I have not been able to reconcile how our most reverred GO appeared to be a ‘good’ friend of these our political leaders while their lives do not reflect this relationship with powerful man of God like him. Would they have remained the same (in their occultism, adultery, corruption and hypocrisy) or comfortable in their way of life if their ‘friendship’ have been with Paul, John, Peter and the rest of the apostles, Rev Akindayomi, Charles G Finney, John Wesley?
Some of the publications about how these relationships benefitted the church(es) is a cause for concern especially when the regulatory laws of the land was said to have been ‘waived’ for the church and some ‘illegal’ goods were imported in a different ‘name’.
If this report is true, I want the church to know that whenever the judgement of the corruption in Nigeria will happen, the church may be the starting point.
My counsel is that our men of God should relate to our political leaders in order to influence them to righteous living in their personal life and the way they govern the country instead of speaking with the side of the mouth because of filthy lucre. If they are not ready to produce fruits meet for repentance then stop associating with them so that you don’t bring insult to the name of Christ.

18 July 2008 12:41Thank God i am not a fool as many of us Nigerian. How can someone be a paupa and instead of trying to work and make his life better he is there beleiving in DADDY who is jusk a man like himself. These pastors eat three square meals Drive cars of their choice, send children to shools abroad and they use our money to build scools and charge us millions. The ealier we stop dwelling in our dream world the better for us. For me i will readilly go and dash a beggar on the street some money than to give any body money to buy jet.

24 July 2008 00:27It also happened to Jesus in His days, a woman (i think mary magdalene) anointed the feet of Jesus with the most precious oil of the land (from her Alabaster Box). Then immediately Judas Iscariot arose and said “why would u waste such a precious oil - washing Jesus feet. Dont you know there are many in the land who are poor who do not have food to eat” and Jesus said “the poor you will always have with you”
Most of us talk about the poor as if we really care about them. Let the money be given to us to take care of them, it will never be surprising that you wouldn’t visit their communities in 30 years!
WE ARE ONE OF THE MOST BLESSED COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD. EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH IN NIGERIA IS WEALTH, YET THE FEW RICH HAS LEFT THE MULTITUDE IN PENURY.
The money to take care of the poor is in our hands, in our bank account and national treasury let us live this man of God alone to raise money for Gospel among God’s faithfuls. We know many of his children in the lord and colleagues who boast private jets.
AND MAY I TELL YOU THAT PRIVATE JET IN HIS CASE IS NOT A MATTER OF LUXURY BUT NECESSITY. Do you know what it is like for you to have assignment in several regions of Africa and all at the same day?
Remember the money to feed the poor is in your hands - face your business
