The age-long rivalry between supporters of English Premiership clubsides, Manchester United and Chelsea FC, took a tragic turn in Nigeria recently after the finals of the last UEFA Champions League as a man macheted his bosom friend to death.

The tragedy occurred during a heated argument between the two young men following the outcome of the match which Manchester United won.

P.M.News gathered that Christopher Udoh, a fan of Manchester United allegedly macheted his bosom friend, Elerus Patrick, a Chelsea FC fan to death as a result of argument at the end of the match.

According to the police at the State criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, where the matter is being investigated, the two friends who were next door neighbours in Ijanikin, near Badagry, had engaged in a serious argument over the two British teams and this degenerated into a fight.

The deceased, Patrick was said to have used a wood to hit Christopher, who in turn retaliated by dashing into his room and coming out with a sharp cutlass which he allegedly used to attack Patrick.

The victim was said to have become unconscious after the attack and was rushed to a private hospital but he died on the way.

Christopher was immediately arrested by policemen from Ijanikin police division and he was transferred to SCID, Panti, Yaba where he is currently being quizzed for alleged murder.

Police sources revealed that three witnesses have made useful statements to the police on the matter, and have volunteered to appear as state witnesses whenever the case was charged to court.

Meanwhile, the police have ordered a post-mortem to be carried out on the deceased to know the cause of his death.

The police have also said they will seek the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) on the matter.

The Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Office (PPRO), Mr. Frank Mba, confirmed the story.

I am always tired at this police and post mortem issue, somebody was macheted to death and still wanted to know the cause? na wao.

Anyway this shows the stupidy of Nigerian being fanatical about English football,Even in England and Europe all over no death was recorded before and after the finals. Both team (loser & winner) are enjoying with more money in their pockets and people are dying here in Ijanikin.

This is nothing but madness. Nigerians are too fanatical and crazy about soccer. It is nothing but game for our pleasure. If your team fails to win, take it in the spirit of sportsmanship and be hopeful that your team will win the next time. Either Man U won or Chelsea, has that brought any dollars to your account? Let’s put things in order. It suppose to make us friends and not enemy; lovers and nor murderers. UP MAN U, UP BLUES… UP EYIMBA…

Though an a united fan but what he had done was against the spirit of the game and criminal in nature. As such, he’d be treated as a criminal.

IT IS A CASE OF OUTSIDERS CRYING MORE THAN THE BEREAVED. HOW MANY BRITONS KNOW OF ENYIMBA OR KANO PILLARS LET ALONE DYING FOR THEM? THIS IS WHAT TELEVISION AND GLOBALISATION HAS DONE TO OUR CONTINENT. IT IS THE PART TWO OF COLONIZATION.

Better check well if this two don’t have personal beef for each other because I don’t think the outcome of the match and a slight hit with a stick would make a (sane) man to massacre a fellow human. This football things is going to cause havoc in this country very soon.

This is what happens in a degenerate society that has managed to publize an international ball kicking sport over its own home based sport. Idiots would they have argued over Gombe United and Eyinmba

I think goverment should step into this and use various orientation agencies to check this madness before it gets out of hand. Freedom without control sums to rascality.
