Scroll Magazine Reporter Detained

February 09, 2010 15:34, 148 views

A reporter with the Scroll magazine, Kinsomebody Egbuchu, has been arrested by police in Abia State.

According to the publisher of the magazine, Mrs. Janet Mba-Afolabi, Egbuchu, who has been rendered incommunicado by the police for over seven days, has not been charged for any crime.

Mba-Afolabi alleged that Egbuchu was arrested by the police on the orders of Bishop Vincent Ezeonyia, as a result of a story captioned Bishop In Kidnapping And Murder Scandal, published by the magazine last year.

She called on the police to release the reporter as his continued detention constitutes a breach of his fundamental human right.
