Both federal and state governments as well as proprietors of school have been advised to pay both teaching and non-teaching staff a living wage and provide good condition of service to enable them give their best to pupils and students.
Mr. Abochi Amakoh, Chairman, Parent/Teacher Association, Yaba College of Technology Secondary School gave the advise at this year’s welcome/end of year party of the school.
He stated that a conducive environment would go a long way in assisting them to discharge their duties.
He added that appreciating them would also encourage system synergy and this could be done by instituting an award for the best school life integrator.
Highlighting some of the achievements of the association, the president said that it has been able to provide the school with a 27 KVA generating plant, constructed a school hall, acquired 23 laptops for 23 staff of the school, as well as sponsored many awards for the staff, Speech and Prize Giving Day and Children’s End of Year Party.
He tasked the school’s management committee to ensure that staff of the school are paid living wages and improved working condition.
Welcoming the new parents to the association, Amakoh told them to show understanding and cooperation in dealing with the school management as well as the PTA for the betterment of the association.
The chairman thanked the immediate past Rector of the institution, Dr. Bunmi Owooso, for purchasing a Toyota Coaster Bus and a heavy duty photocopying machine for the secondary school as parting gifts.
The event was attended by the immediate past Rector of Yaba College of Technology, Dr. Bunmi Owooso, the new Rector, Mrs. M. K. Ladipo, Dr. (Mrs.) Patricia Ukamaka Akumabor, Chairman, Staff School Management Committee and Chief Lecturer and Director of the Technical Teacher Training Programme, Hon. Dayo Adefuye, Supervisor for Agriculture, Somolu Local Government and many others.
