The semi finals of this year’s Federation Cup, formerly known as Nigeria FA Cup competition, will take place in Owerri this weekend.

The first semi final will take place tomorrow, 4 July, between Aba giants, Enyimba Football Club and CAF Confederation Cup contenders, Bayelsa United Football Club, while the second semi final between Lobi Stars and Sharks of Port Harcourt come up on Sunday, 5 July.

Both matches will be played at the Dan Anyiam Stadium from 4pm.

Tonex Chukwu, image maker of Enyimba said the team are in high spirit for the battle with Bayelsa, who won the recently concluded Globacom Premier League.

Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri also hosted the semi finals of last year’s competition, while the final and third place matches were played at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.

The final and third place matches of this year’s competition will be played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on Sunday, 12 July. The third place match will kick off at 2pm with the final match starting at 4pm.

This is the first time in over 60 years that the competition is being held without a sponsor. Soft drink giants, Coca-Cola bankrolled the FA Cup till last year before pulling out.
