Former Super Eagles’ ace defender, Pastor Taribo West, believes Adefemi Olubayo will make good use of the chances given to him by Coach Shuaibu Amodu in the senior national team.
Taribo says Olubayo, who has just sealed a deal with French Ligue 1 club, US Boulogne, tactfully played himself into the Eagles with his excellent performance in the last two friendly matches Nigeria had with Republic of Ireland and France, adding that the former Rapid Bucharest of Romania player will be a good replacement for Everton of England’s Joseph Yobo and Olympic Marseille star, Taye Taiwo in the Eagles’ defence in the nearest future.
He noted that what the 23- year old defender, who won Olympic silver medal in the Samson Siasia-led U-23 Eagles at the Beijing 2008 Summer Games, needs, is to play more matches for him to fit into the mainstream of the Nwankwo Kanu-led Super Eagles.
“Olubayo has shown that the Eagles won’t miss the likes of Yobo and Taiwo in the defence. He will be the strong man in the Eagles’defence when these older players eventualy leave the team. I’m really impressed with what the boy played in the friendly ties with Ireland and France. He is a future player for Nigeria,” said Taribo.
