House Of Reps’ Chief Whip To Go
June 15, 2009 14:51, 275 views
Rep. Dino Melaye (PDP-Kogi) says he is “temporarily relocating” to dodge pressures from people seeking to stop the removal from office of the House of Representatives’ Chief Whip, Rep. Emeka Ihedioha.
Melaye, the anchor person of the Ihedioha must-go-project, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Internationa Airport, Abuja, on Sunday, said he was “relocating to the U.S and the U.K.” “I’m leaving Nigeria because the pressure is too much for me to bear,’’ he said. According to him; “prominent Nigerians have been pleading with me and my colleagues to drop the charges against Ihedioha.’’
The lawmaker, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Information, said that 224 signatures had been received toward the Chief Whip’s removal as at Sunday, 14 June. On Ihedioha’s sins, he said that the Chief Whip had allegedly mismanaged more than N150 million meant for the celebration of 10 years of uninterrupted legislative activities in Nigeria. Ihedioha was the chairman of the committee for that celebration. “I am going to be away till the House resumes on 23 June, where the motion of no confidence will be passed on the Chief Whip,’’ he said.
The lawmaker said that the increasing number of signatures was an indication that the Chief Whip was no longer enjoying the confidence of the members. Melaye said that “no amount of pressure” would stop him from completing the assignment. He maintained that the Chief Whip’s removal would send signals that the House was not prepared to condone any corrupt tendency. Efforts to contact Ihedioha were not successful, but his aide, who gave his name as Austin, said that the money in question was not up to N150 million. “The money in question is N100 million and not N150 million as is being touted by our detractors,’’ he said, adding that the money went to publicity and documentary on television networks. According to him, the said documentary will start running from this week.

15 June 2009 16:03Emeka should be removed. he has so quickly forgotten his yesterday and has become very arrogant and cocky. As the chief whip he should be at the service of his colleagues and not to try to lord it over them as he is wont to doing

LIKE IN SO MANY WASTEFUL EXPENDITURES OF THIS DEMOCRACY, THIS ADVENTURE/MISADVENTURE IS DOWNRIGHT WASTEFUL. OF WHAT USE IS A DOCUMENTARY WORTH =N=100m/=N=150m WHEN MAJORITY OF NIGERIANS CANNOT AFFORD A DECENT THREE SQUARE MEAL IN A DAY OR WHAT ABOUT THE ARMY OF UNEMPLOYED? GOD HAVE MERCY!!! ONE THING IS CLEAR, THERE ARE SO MANY EMEKA IHEDIOHAS IN THIS CURRENT DEMOCRATIC DISPENSATION. WHO WILL CLEAR THESE AUGEAN STABLES?!

15 June 2009 22:18If the said Chief Whip is unable to account for only one naira out of the said sum, he should be handed over to EFCC,but what about millions of them, whose corrupt practices have not been revealed?. Infact, our government is ineffective totally. Our so-called leaders travel all over the globe, seeing the level of develoments there, they still come home to rob us, THIEVES.

16 June 2009 08:58Na wah for this House of “Rapes” o. Why didn’t the Chief Whip share the money well?
If this man shared the money well, this honorable making noise will be as silent as a dead man in the grave.
Well, lets hope he gets his share either in US or UK where he is running to, and he would come back to tell
us that Ihedioha is an honorabl House of “Rapes” member who has been doing his work well.
Let ‘ Thief Whip’ share the money well so he can continue in his position “Rape’resenting us.

16 June 2009 15:51Its very unfortunate that these legislators are opening their dirty linen in public. If you have not gotten your share of N150 why can’t you go and meet him to explain it to him. These monies you have been stealing since you assumed office as legilators are cursed money. The monies are blood money that will never be blessed. It will finish or you die and leave the money you stole to your children to squander. As far as the present legislators are concerned this country will never make any progress because they are enemies of progress. Shame on you. Thieves, Armed Robbers, Barawos, Olle. Oneday you will account for it.
