Oladele Adekanye, the chairman, Lagos Mainland Local Government, has charged the newly appointed supervisory councillors on the need to replicate the development programme of the state government in the local government area.
Adekanye, popularly called Lado by his admirers, made the charge during the swearing-in ceremony of the supervisory councillors on Monday.
He said they should see their new task as a call to serve and not merry making venture.
The council boss also said there is greater need for the councillors to acquaint themselves with the party’s manifestoes, policy and programme by making sure that the party’s set goal materialised at the local council level.
Lado also harped on the need for the supervisory councillors to be loyal to the party, its leadership and the council boss as well as avoid bickering of any sort whether among themselves or with other top officials of the council, especially the civil servants with who they are expected to join hands in the bid to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the area.
The newly appointed supervisory councillors are Waziu Ogunniyi (Works), Aminat Anjolaiya (Agric), Femi Poluyi (Health) and Adesina Ogunlaja (Education), while the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) is Tajudeen Tijani.
