Qatar Airways has again topped polls at the 19th Annual TTG Travel Awards. The airline was voted best in the Middle East at an awards ceremony in Bangkok.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker was delighted that the airline scooped the award, fending off strong competition in the region.

“Once again, Qatar Airways has shown it is the preferred airline for the travel industry in Asia. This award demonstrates the consistency and dedication that the airline is committed to providing its valuable customers,” Al Baker said.

“We have massive expansion plans for the Far East region. Recognition such as this award will continue to spur the airline on in its development.

“The airline continues to be an industry leader and innovator. We are honoured that this commitment to excellence has been recognised by our peers,” he added.

Since 2007, Qatar Airways has launched several new routes throughout Asia, including Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Guangzhou in China, and Bali in Indonesia. The airline has also increased frequencies on a number of its key Asian routes including, Kuala Lumpur, Manila Osaka and Seoul.

Further expansion in the near future includes the launching of several new destinations and increasing frequencies on existing key routes, Al Baker said.

“We are very honoured to receive this award as voted by the readers of TTG Asia. A big thank you must go out to all those people involved in making this possible. Qatar Airways would especially like to thank its travel trade partners and industry professionals across Asia for their continued support of the airline,” Koleilat said.

“The airline is proud of its achievements to date and will continue to strive ahead as it fulfils its promise of providing travellers with the highest levels of product and services available in the skies.”

Qatar Airways operates a young and modern fleet of 63 Boeing and Airbus aircraft serving 83 cities across Europe, Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Far East and North America.
