MTN Lagos Street Soccer: Ogunoloko’s Goalie Rues Poor Performance

September 08, 2008 15:57, 33 views

By Sunday Akintoye

Olukunmi Adeniyi, the goalkeeper of Ogunoloko Boys Football Club, is sad about his performance in the ongoing MTN Lagos Street Soccer Champions.

Although, his team are second on the table at the Oshodi centre, Adeniyi is still lamenting over the three goals he conceded in Saturday’s matches at the Jalingo Playground, Oshodi. He believes that the goals contributed to his team’s position at the centre.

He told P.M.Sports that his intention was to maintain a clean slate, while hoping that his team would top the table at the end of the first round at the centre.

“I did not live up to expectation,” said the dark-skinned goalie. I actually tried my best not to concede many goals in the tourney, but I conceded three goals in three matches, that was very bad,” he lamented.

Adeniyi, however, praised his teammates for their performance, saying that his team’s qualification to the next round will depend on the results of matches from other centres. He says their second position on the table has put his side in a tight corner.

“We planned to finish on top of the table but our 1-2 defeat in the hands of  Shogunle Boys has affected us greatly. I’m still hopeful that we can qualify as the best losers, that also depends on the results from other centres,” he said.
