Coach of Nigeria Deaf Football team, Kamilu Banjo, has appealed to the National Sports Commission (NSC), to give them the necessary support, as they prepare for the Deaflympic Games, scheduled for next year, in Chinese Tapei.
Nigeria qualified for the Games after scaling through the qualifiers, held in Accra, Ghana. The Nigerian team beat their Ghanaian counterparts 3 -1 in the last game of Group A to represent Africa alongside South Africa in the Deaflympic Games, next year.
Banjo, in a chat with P.M.Sports, said his team must start preparation now. He complained that lack of fund will be a serious setback to their build up to the world tourney, hence the clarion call on sports authorities for assistance.
He however noted that Nigeria can only perform well in the Deaflympic Games if there is adequate preparation for the team. He also called on well meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to give the team the necessary support ahead of the Games.
“We should have started real preparation for the Games, but we don’t have the fund and we need to put many things in place before beginning the preparation.
“Let me use this opportunity to appeal to the NSC and other Nigerians to come and assist us so that we can have a good outing in Chinese Tapei, next year,” he said.
