Baale Blames Residents For Robbery Attacks

The Baale of Owode Bariga in Bariga Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Chief Ademola Alabi Jubril, has blamed residents of Ladilak and environs for the incessant armed robbery attacks in the area.

Reacting to complaints by residents of daily armed robbery attacks, Chief Jubril told P.M.News that armed robbers capitalised on the absence of local security guards, caused by non-payment of security fees by residents, to wreak havocs on residents of the area.

According to Chief Jubril, the night guards in some areas of Bariga withdrew their services due to non-payment of their salaries. He explained that streets with night guards are spared from such attacks.

Chief Jubril, who became the Baale of the community five years ago, said if inhabitants of the area had co-operated with him on his security plan for the area, the attacks would not have occurred.

Baale Jubril also disclosed that necessary traditional rites had been performed to ensure that the community was free from armed robbery attacks.

He implored residents to look out for strangers and residents without means of income, adding that these people contributed a lot to the insecurity in the area.

Chief Jubril also absolved the police of any blame in the increase in armed robbery in the area, stressing that policemen lacked the necessary weapon to confront the men of the underworld. He appealed to the government to equip the police to enable them contain the hoodlums.

When P.M.News visited Pedro Police Station, the divisional crime officer, Mrs. A. Babalola, denied knowledge of an upsurge of armed robbery in the area, but assured that the police would increase patrol of the area.
