I Don’t Feel Bad About My Son’s Death

August 13, 2008 13:48, 455 views

Debo Adejayan had a chat with the father of one of the three burnt armed robbers in Ajegunle, Apapa, recently

Q: Can you please introduce yourself?
A: My name is Monday Ehoho. I live at 117, Uzor Street, Ajegunle, Apapa. I am 47 years old from Ishan in Edo State.

Q: I learnt that you are the father of one of the burnt armed robbers at New Road/Achakpo Junction?
A:Yes, I am the father. The boy’s name is Keke Ehoho. He is my first child.

Q: How do you feel about his case?
A: I don’t feel any bad. I’m happy because I don’t support what he was doing. I have warned him severally to desist from robbery. Even my church pastor warned him too, he told him he saw a grave before him in a vision and warned him, but my son didn’t yield. So, he deserved what has happened to him. God knows I have tried for him as a father. I sent him to one of the best schools in Ajegunle Apapa. A relation (younger brother of mine) even assisted in sending him to Europe but Keke ran back home after staying there for some months complaining that the cold there was too much for him, but only to come back and join his robbery gang. Keke was not using gun before until he started moving with Nana (another robber burnt together sameday) who always goes with two pistols to operations.

Q: What about the mother of Keke?
A: She is at home crying like a baby.

Q: Do you have other children?
A: Yes. I have other children - a boy and two girls. They are doing well. The boy works for a company while the girls are still in school.

Q: What do you do for a living?
A: I am an okada rider. I have worked in many companies before I  retired to start Okada riding.

The youths should learn how to fish, and shouid stop stealing from other peoples pound.
This is a big lesson for the youth and also a sad story for the parent.

I agreed with Trisha’s comment. It is high time we seek solution to the spiritual problems this country is continuosly facing. Our problem is not physical but spiritual or how will you explain Keke’s problem?

Why is it everytime something happens due to the choice someone has made for themselve, that people always look to spiritual causes. It is high time that we should all take responsibility for our actions. If all that is happening in Nigeria is spiritual as people always seem to claim, then we should be the most prosperous nation on earth when you look at the predominance of churches etc per sq mtr. Please let us call a spade a spade, when you live by the Gun you die by it. People should realise that not every one can work in government, and use thier God given talents to do the right things. Stop trying to get rich quick, and plan to accumulate wealth through diliigence and planning.

Like Judas, keke chose his end.I hope friends of keke still living will now take a u-turn from their evils ways to get rich with the gun.

My only advice to Nigerians is that rubbers caught should be set on fire on the spot. Its frustrating when some bastards walk up to you to collect all you’ve worked for in years just in few mins.

My heart goes out to this father. He tried his best and the son chose a different path. Parents should investigate the type of friends their
children keep. If you see that a child’s friend is not the type your child should be around, send that child away from your house and
warn your kid. I pray that this saves other kids from falling through the crack.
