Martins Shattered! Over Mother’s Death •To Fly Home From London Tonight

Nigeria’s striker, Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins, was shattered when the news of his mother’s death hit him today.
Martins, who had woken up to join his team-mates in Newcastle Football Club for training early in the morning, burst into tears on hearing that his mother had died.
“Yes, I have heard about mom’s death, someone just called me from Nigeria now. Well, I’m going to take it as a man…Oh! mother is gone! Oh! and…,” Martins was quoted as saying on telephone from his base in Newcastle.
The Super Eagles goal poacher said he would be home to witness his mother’s burial tomorrow, describing her as a great mom that anyone would want to have.
“I’m working on how to come home immediately. I will leave Newcastle right away to book my flight from London to Nigeria tonight,” Martins said with a shaky voice.
Martins was very close to his mom during her life time. It would be recalled that the player missed an international friendly clash between Nigeria and Ghana in London last year January after flying home to be with his mother, who was ill at that time. He actually took his ill mother to Tyneside, where she was treated before she returned to Lagos.
Martins is known for his exceptional pace, great agility, powerful shots and acrobatic goal celebrations.
He has two brothers who also play football. His elder brother, Oladipupo Olarotimi Martins, is on the books of Serbian side FK Partizan, while his younger brother, John Ronan Martins, plays football in Nigeria.

26 July 2008 13:27Obafemi martins is a great star in nigeria team and also in his club and i am one of the fans of obafemi martins so when i heard of her mother’s death i feel sad and infact thinking on the mode of his thinking so i am praying now and want my prayer to exist in him because he is a young guy who her mother have just starting to gain from him so i prayed that God will continue to protect him and no weapon fashion against him shal prosper and i also prayed that her mother soul rest in perfect peace and i also prayed that no harm or effect will be able to handle obafemi martins and also his family and any where they are going no weapon fashion against them shall prosper and they will be meeting a nice AND honest human being that will always see them and help them in good mood and before i go i will like to say that Obeafemi Martins star will continue to flow and nothing will let him down and also his Family so before i go because if i continue to talk i will not finish i will end my word by saying No weapon fashion against all Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins Family shall prosper
