Court Orders Release Of Fayose’s Passport

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, this morning, ordered the release of ex-Governor Ayodele Fayose’s international passport to enable him travel abroad for medical treatment.
In his argument urging the court to allow Fayose travel abroad, his lawyer, Ahmed Tafa, argued that Fayose’s health is bad as he has hypertension.
He said Fayose has concluded arrangements to travel to the United Kingdom immediately the court releases his passport as he has already consulted with his physician in London.
In his ruling, Justice Tijani Abubakar, while ordering the passport to be released to enable Fayose travel abroad, gave the following conditions:
Fayose’s surety must depose to an affidavit ensuring that he will return to Nigeria to face trial.
The former governor must also file an affidavit of return pending when he eventually returns from his medical treatment.
Justice Tijani also ordered the former governor to be present at the next adjourned date of the case on 3, 4 November, for trial to commence as EFCC has already assembled their witnesses.

24 July 2008 17:56i am quite disheartened to read that our so called rogue leaders are going abroad to treat common cold and headache; what will happen to us ‘fellow Nigerian’ that couldn’t afford the huge medical bills and travel expences expended by these God forsaken and corrupt leaders?
Any way, my only prayer to God for these corrupt and insensitive leaders is: THESE SICKNESSES AND DIAGNOSES OF THEM WILL DEFINITELY KILL THEM IN THEIR PRIME; if they don’t relent in syphoning and endlessly steal our common resources, which could have been used in building a first class hospital for everyone.
On the other hand, if the leaders of Britain and other European cities had stolen from their people, will these stupid and narrow minded leaders have somewher to go and treat their self inflicted diseases? Self inflicted because it is their greed,selfish lifestyle and quest for more money, at the expense of us the common man that is making them develop hypertension and the likes.
I will implore them to repent or the spirit of poor -innocent Nigerians that have died due to lack of basic hospital facilities will not let them see rest.
A word is enough for the wise.

24 July 2008 18:32The law is an ass. A healthy person who goes about intimidating the govt and the tax payers suddingly becomes ill to such an extent that he has to travel abroad for treatment is strange.

24 July 2008 19:06Can we ever convict these leaders that turned this country to what it is now. look at the Niger Delta upon all the money from NDDC to federation allocation to 13%, etc. there is nothing to show for it. all we hear is due process. this constitution we know will never convict any of them. Only God will convict them one after the other.

if EFCC arrest a fraudsters or yahoo boy they will arrested them and make surely they go to jail ,but if it is happens to be a governor ,a senate , ministers or any so- call important good for nothing personality ,their arrest will be on the first page of nigeria news paper .and that is where the story ends.this make me believe there is not justice in nigeria.
