If there is one Nigerian who is happy now, it is Dr. Dalton Osaretin Uyi, the founder of the Dof Institute. And the reason is that the school he founded 28 years ago, along Railway Line, Ikeja, has grown into five autonomous centres in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan and Benin, with conducive hostels, well equipped kitchens, stand-by generators and modern classrooms with teaching aids, among others.
Not only this, Dof Institute, which has churned out over 20,000 students, is fully recognised by the Federal Government and international bodies like West London College Examination Confederation, Tourism, Catering and Hotel Management (CTCHM) and affiliated to Benson Idahosa University, Benin.
As part of the event, there was a street storm/rally tagged Dof Walk Against Drug Abuse yesterday. This will be followed by a seminar, cooking and dancing competition today, while tomorrow, Thursday, Miss Dof Institute will be crowned as well as fashion exhibition and cultural dance. Friday is the Thanksgiving and Awards Day.
Billed to spice up the event are music stars like Azadus, Inferno and Buchi, among other top comedians. There will also be commissioning of modern classrooms with teaching aids.
Dr. Uyi, who is a seasoned writer, educationist and philanthropist, had his first degree in Business Administration from Nothingham University as well as MBA and Ph.d in Marketing and Management respectively. He was inspired to train professional caterers, home minders and business individuals to be useful to themselves and the society in general because of his love for food.
