LAWMA Partners Universal Steel On Waste Control

July 23, 2008 14:52, 15 views

The Managing Director of Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Mr. Ola Oresanya, has commended the management of Universal Steel Limited situated off Acme Road, Ogba, for responding to LAWMA’s distress call for companies and organisations in the state to partner with it towards achieving a cleaner and friendly environment.

According to him, “LAWMA had flagged off a campaign, asking organisations to clean up the streets of Lagos, adding that apart from achieving a clean environment, the concept is also for creating job opportunities for about 10,000 youths, who will be employed to sweep the streets and about 5,000 people are already on the streets working.

Oresanya also stated that to stamp out crime in the society and rehabilitate social miscreants, the corporate world owes the society a responsibility of creating job opportunities and therefore appealed to other organisations to emulate Universal Steel and partner with LAWMA to employ more of the youths.

Reacting to the commendation, Prince F. Oba Okogie, a director of the company, also commended LAWMA for its prompt evacuation of waste from the area and implored it to continue the good work.

“Your street cleaning project is a landmark achievement and it is for this reason that we want to collaborate with you because we believe you are doing a wonderful job in making Lagos a very clean state,” he stated.
