By Adetutu Audu

Joseph Hundah has been appointed Managing Director of MultiChoice Nigeria and his appointment took effect from June 2008, City Players learnt. He succeeds Mr. Collins Khumalo, who is expected to assume a new role outside Nigeria.

Prior to his appointment to this position, Hundah was the Operations Director for Sub-Saharan Africa at M-Net Africa and has a solid understanding of the continent as well as the challenges faced by the media on the continent.

In particular, he has a deep knowledge of the Nigerian media landscape, culture and economy.

Based in Nigeria over the last 18 months, Joseph’s leadership had a particular focus on subscribers and non-subscribers in the country and the strategic positioning of the M-Net brand in the country. Through his role as Operations Director for Sub-Saharan Africa at M-Net, Joseph has led a revolution in the quality and quantity of uniquely African programming screened by DStv, including Big Brother Africa, Moments with Mo, Deal or No Deal Nigeria, Idols West Africa and the Nigerian drama, Tinsel. He is expected to bring his experience to bear on the business of MultiChoice Nigeria, the subscription management company for DStv products and services in the country.

Hundah, who began his career in 1992, has over the last 16 years built up a wealth of knowledge both in the finance and broadcast industry.

A chartered accountant by training, he has over nine years experience working for South Africa ’s largest television broadcasting names like SABC, SuperSport, M-Net and MultiChoice.
