Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a doctorate degree holder, Mr. Asianya Okey Francis, from Anambra State, with 100 wraps of cocaine concealed in his stomach.
The suspect was apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, during the screening of passengers of a Virgin Nigeria flight to London.
A statement by Ofoyeju Mitchell, NDLEA Head of Public Affairs, this morning, disclosed that Asianya left Nigeria for the United States in search of greener pastures in 1978.
He had his first and second degrees in Architectural construction at Texas Southern University in 1982 and 1983. He later proceeded to study Business Philosophy at Carolina Christian University, Mapo Shad, United States, where he obtained his doctorate degree in 1995.

In his confessional statement, Asianya, a father of three, said that he indulged in the criminal act in a desperate bid to save his 15-year-old daughter that has a hole in the heart.
“My 15-year-old daughter has a hole in the heart and I have spent so much. I owe my child any sacrifice but I did not know it was a big mistake. In my consciousness I felt it will be good for the child. Though I weighed the options, now I know better that I was rash in my decision,” he lamented.
The suspect, who is from Nnenwi Local Government Area of Anambra State, further disclosed that he was promised 4,000 pounds sterling to embark on the journey.
Reacting to the arrest, the anti-narcotics agency’s chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Giade, described the involvement of Asianya in drugs as sad and disheartening.
“It is sad and disheartening for the suspect to be involved in drug trafficking. This arrest and others have shown that there is no escape route for drug traffickers. Nothing will provide a safe canopy for the ignoble trade, not even academic qualifications,” Giade stated.
Also arrested are a Ghanian businessman, Wanye Christopher, 38, and six others.
The names of other suspects are Zadil Al-Husen, 41; Steve Obehi Mato, 44; Emenike Kelechi Calistus, 34; Abagala Chikelu Daniel, 48; Kalu Benjamin, 32 and Charles Aidoyen, 33. The arrests took place between 14th and 20th July, 2008.
The Ghanaian, Wanye Christopher, was arrested on Friday 18, 2008, at about 11 a.m., during screening of passengers on Qatar Airways, on his way to Thailand.
The Accountancy graduate at Kumasi Polytechnic is based in Accra where he runs a boutique. Wanye confessed to have swallowed 49 wraps of cocaine weighing 967 grammes which he bought for 18,000 dollars. NDLEA said the suspects will soon be charged to court.
At the time of filing this report, P.M.News was still trying to confirm if Mr. Asianya Okey Francis actually attended the Carolina Christian University, Mapo Shad, United States of America, as he claimed, and whether he actually bagged a doctorate degree.

22 July 2008 16:20Very disheartnening indeed !!! Nigerians should be more creative and stop depending on Civil Slavery called Civil Service. A man with Phd in Architectural Construction and Bussiness Phillosophy should have taken the initiative to establish or initiated a commercial idea that would have made him more succesful than depending on meagre wages/salary. The urge to meet up the demand of costly living in the country may have pushed him into such expensive mistake. Our goverment should creat more opportunities and the enabling enviroment for the citizens who may like to set up bussiness. But the fact remains that some Nigerians even with such opportunity prefer to make wealth through dubious means…. Kudos to the guys at the NDLEA. The NDLEA should please tighten the noose and beem their search light upon some of these “PASTORS” some of the fund they are laundering are proceeds from Drugs…. Meanwhile, the PM New should always think of suitable caption to present News.. “” NDLEA ARREST PHD HOLDER WITH COCAIN”" Yes, but what is the correlation between Phd Holder and crime. Anybody can commit crime.. Pastors are comitting Crime, Governors are doing same, Special Adviser to a Former President Laundered Cash into USA through Presidetial Jet… Professor Osuji commited Crime and was sacked.. The caption should have just been ” NDLEA ARRESTED A MAN WITH COCAIN” ……. Don Mike.

22 July 2008 16:22Firstly,this is a very poorly written journalistic peice as the culprit caught with the drug is a phd-degree holder which automatically meant he is Doctor Asianya Okey Francis from Anambra with 100 wraps of substance suspected to be cocain.Shame on Dr Asianya Okey Francis for this type of dishonourable and criminal act.He must be made to pay for the crime committed, period! Dr Patrick Kolawole Boboye,Canada.

22 July 2008 17:14This has clearly shown that wisdom is different from academic qualifications, its the same with our politicians some with phd but still loot the treasury. They dont have the wisdom to even solve nigerian problems. THERE IS NO BIG DEAL IN PH.D its just a matter of choice and determination. You can even end up as armed robber. This is another problem with Nigeria where people are scared to go back home even with all the degrees they have acquired abroad, If you spend 6yrs and above abroad it will be difficult to even start a small business in Nigeria, you cant play the game the way they play it at home. Many went home and end up being drug addict becos of frustrations in Nigeria environment. I have a little sympathy for this man but crime is crime.

22 July 2008 17:17the case of asianya is a reflection of the nigerian society. the get-rich syndrome has eaten into every facet of the nigerian society; high and low, government and the governed, young and old, lettered and unlettered. i don’t in the hole in the heart story it is just one of those cock and bull story. may Allaah rectify our affairs in this country.

22 July 2008 17:40I think Mr.Simon Ateba should undergo more professional training to
enable him meet the world standard in journalism/communication.
Degree or status have nothing absolutely to do with crime,It has become
peculiar to all and sundry that crime now resides among the elites in our
society.Right from the second republic ill faced prominent Governors and
commissioners were involved in crimes.Senators and their lower house
colleagues did same so being an academia does not stop a corrupt mind
in Nigeria. Please I suggest that this arrest today bail tomorrow syndrome
should be re-viewd if truly the fight against crime is real in Nigeria. All the con
men and women that looted were given bail so check it out…………………

22 July 2008 17:42PhD does not stop people from engaging in illicit trade like cocaine. Shame on you Nigeria as we have gradually debased our society because of the greed in our society. Illiterate governors and those in authority are stealing millions and the educated masses are wallowing in abject poverty. Pen robbers abound every where in Nigeria and we celebrate theil loot with them. Shame on you Nigeria for allowing our intellectuals to rot away in foreign land while idiots and never do wells are now the noveau riche in our society. To the so called Dr. Asianya, you willpay the prize for your greed. Chikina!

Mr. Asianya cold not solve his problems because the Obasanjos, Babangidas, Dantatas, Yaraduas of this world and their surrogates has cornered what belongs to the Nigerian public into secret foreign accounts. its a pity of what is befalling of Mr. Asianya, maybe a different case if he was born Hausa.

22 July 2008 19:51Celestine, U are the only one talking senses here. Before we start pouring abuss on this man, can we finfd out whether the daughter actually has hole in the heart ? If so, cant we see that his action could have been informed by the misruling that has taken place in Nigeria since 1960. Even Yar’Adua cannot trust any hospital in Nigeria. I am not supporting drug pushing, but Nigeria situation has many noble people become dishonourable among their peers. Armed robbery in Nigeria has become so sophisticated to an extent that it takes highly intelligent people to carry out such operations. This is where the IBBs, the Abdusallams, the Abachas , Shagaris and OBJs of Naija us to. I pity Dr.Asianya and I pity myself to have been born in such a country where human life is not valued.

22 July 2008 20:04I am saddened to note that most of the names of people caught drug smuggling, carjacking and armed robbery in Nigeria are from a particular ethnic group.Has this group got no shame in the pursuit of money at all costs? We hope there is no backlash by other ethnic groups to curb this menace.

22 July 2008 21:47It is great to hear that NDLEA is doing a good……….these drug mules should be dealt with as they have and are still causing Nigerians a lot of problem abroad.
There is no week a drug mule from Nigeria would be arrested in Heathrow or Gatwick (I know this because I work there)
All sorts of people are found with drugs, you name it - even people who refer to themselves as Pastors inclusive ( that is why don’t even say you are a Pastor because by saying you are being seen as a grug mule)
That is how bad it is.

22 July 2008 22:36A victim: of criminal and irresponsible governance by the Nigerian leadership. A band of rogue leaders that make their citizens think of criminal perspectives for survival. What a shame!

22 July 2008 22:38I don’t care what ever degree he has, let him pay for his greediness. This will serve as a detriment to other Literate pen robber and drug barons in Nigeria.
Nigerians images have been so dented all over the ports of entries all over the world, even Nigerian Diplomats are not respected because of these few scrupulous and shameless Nigerians like Asianya Okey Francis.
IF the EFCC and the NDLEA want to rebuilt Nigeria image, they should not be corrupt, therefore discharge duties without favoritism on who so ever is involved in frauds and crimes.

23 July 2008 00:53I do not know what Phd got to do with being a criminal. We live in a country where everybody wants to be rich without any efforts. The decision makers of our country are partly to blame, look at the caliber of elected officials, past and present governers, the high crime rate, and what have you. Until we ( Nigerians) stop electing 419s as governers, senators and get individuals who are well informed, my brothers and sisters, we will for ever remain in this ugly situation. NDLEA, keep up the good work. I am surprise Asianya did not address himself as Chief Dr. Asianya, we have lots of them these days.

23 July 2008 09:31Which ethnic group does this drug don from? May be we should start now looking at the ethnic heritage of those involve in this ignoble trade. May be doing this might help reduce people involvement in the business. How? The involvement of traditional chiefs, community leaders, his/her immediate family lineage, parents, churches, etc. to educate, appeal, explain the consequences, shames involved and most importantly the smear effect on the community he/she from as whole. In my opinion its wrong to always tag Nigerians drug baron, while 90% pushers are from particular ethnic group(s). Please let call a spade that, and nothing else.
Nigerians I believe do not understand the shame this business carries and its effect to the entire NATION called NIGERIA.

23 July 2008 10:04This reporter ( Simon Ateba ) needs to attend logic class because most of what he wrote here are fallacious maybe, He just need to learn more about reporting and journalism as other commentators have said.
According to the story, the self acclaimed PhD holder ( Dr Asianya ) did most of his schooling abroad and not many of the scholars that studied abroad suffers like the ones that schooled and lecture in Nigeria which is as a result of Nigerian bad economy and government disregard for education and educationists (i.e teachers and lecturers).
I think, the authority should find out the truth of the story before judgment is made because, if it is true that His daughter is having heart problem then, He needs help in regards to that but that of course does not mean He shouldn’t be punish accordingly for his offense.
If He could do this now, it means more will be done if by chance He got a political appointment in Nigeria because some Nigerians tend to believe that those that studied abroad are better off and knowledgeable than the home breed scholars.

23 July 2008 10:18The subject of this news is not the trafficker’s educational background but
his moral background, he knows that drug trafficking is bad, but he still indulged in it.
He had the choice of using the flight fare to treat his daughter.
i want to dare him that there is nothing wrong with his daughter. thats if he has one.
He just lied to make up for his wrong.
But he can be forgiven.

23 July 2008 10:48It is an embarrasement for the academia. Our leaders have reduced our brains to such a riddle of hard drug peddlers. We need a better leadership to make skilled and unskilled citizens have the basic needs. Only that will alleviate such crimes.

23 July 2008 11:05It is unfortunate that Dr. Asianya got himself involved in this dirty biz and trying to adduce baseless and flimsy reasons for his actions. I strongly advice that his claims about his daughter having a hole in the heart be investigated so as to save the innocent live of this Nigerian girl. For contributors like David with tribal sentiments against a people,i kindly advice that you address issues as they appear and stop being steroetypical, people like you will be racists in the Euroe against immigrants. Let the law take its course. Academic qualifications are no excuses for moral denigration.

23 July 2008 11:05All of you are talking rubbish, because i know that all of you are Nigerians hence potential thiefs, drug pushers armed robbers, fake pastors, holier than- thou-people ritualists etc. Dr Asiaya, sory o, you are only unfortunate to be caught may be you didnt want to play the game according to the rules. Any way all hope is not lost thank God you are caught in Naija where you still have hope of bribing your way out, just let your sponsors know in time they will find a way of sorting you out. My advise when next you want to carry drug please carry as much as possible to be able to beat any known recod of your old allies in the same trade then we Nigerians will be able to celebrate you and give you national award and various chieftancy titles from Ife to Enugu the to Sokoto you will then become our hero.
Any for the Pastor that is calling somebody anti -christ, wont you have called in Dr Asianya to come and give testimony in your Church had he succeded in his ” trade”? God will judge all of us.

23 July 2008 11:16The enthnic origin of the drug pusher is not the issue .anybody from any where can commit crime.the issue is the heart condition of the person involved.does he have the fear of god in his dealing .nigerians must first of all fear god so that it will affect what they do..the government can not be blamed for the crime there are many people with phd who are doing legitame things to feed their families. so please let us fear god so that it will influlence what we do. thanks.

23 July 2008 11:16this is one of the many instances of racial segregations we do notice in nigeria.that a man who is sane will be pointing accusing fingers on a particuler ethnic regionin as the brain behind drug pushing in nigeria shows how naive he is. or simply a tribalist.or at worst one of the haters of the paticuler ethnic region he is refering to.if he thinks that this particuler region he is refering to is responsible for all the drug pushings then maybe he should realise that the much about talks of maginalisation of this particuler ethnic region is responsible.maybe its about high time the nigerian state stops the maginalization of this particuler ethnic region.and see what they can do to better the lot of that region before somthing worse happens.until then i will ask the likes of David to shut up.

Some of you, put in the same, circumstance will do worse things.

No matter what, never judge!
The man did a very bad thing and deserves to be punished- we all know but leave that to the law of the land.

23 July 2008 13:29I pity this man a lot. But this is the true situation of how nigerians are suffering. Everyday we read in the news, billions of naira embezzled by all the ministries plus state governors and none has ever been made to pay back stolen monies. Definitely we need another war in this country to clean up this rubbish system. The people are suffering too much. The so called elite have so much disppointed everybody. They never cared to even invest these stolen funds in the country. It is a big shame on any african/black man who have particpated in this genocide. In this age, nothing is more important than to love your country.

23 July 2008 13:54It is a pity this man got himself into this kind of mess, the law will definitly take its course but people should not drag ethnicity into his issue, there is no tribe that has not been involved in crimes in Nigeria. 23 July 2008 14:36Kudos to the NDLEA guys, despite their poor pay some of them have determined to be upright. Therefore, academic qualifications have nothing to do with crime. What makes a man to live an upright life is his determination to live an upright life, the fear of God and integrity. Having said that, i think that Don Mike need deliverance as it has been rightly pointed out by somebody already. He should be careful not to attract the wrat of God. 23 July 2008 15:13Very easy to blame a culprit.
Inasmuch as I would never condone drug traficking. As a british based Nigerian citizen, I can assure you that I have never heard of anyone giving excuse of a medical condition to commit a crime in the UK because the medical care is virtually free and readily available to all and sundry..
Nigeria has failed many of us and such headlines confirm the pathetic state of our economy. Woe be on to all our corrupt leaders.

23 July 2008 15:14It is wrong for the one called David to make such a tribal-hatred statement about the Ibos. If we are to ask, which tribe or ethnic group is involved in the most inhuman crime such as genocide in the name of religious bigotry, looting of the national treasury, power usurpation, intellectual laziness, born-to-rule syndrome etc. These are the real drivers of crime not those who engages in the survivalist struggle. As mentioned earlier, it is the northern misrule that has robbed Nigeria of her pride of place in the committee of nations and impoverished the people not the positive enterprising spirit of the Ibos. I am not supporting Asianya for his crime but I am saying that if the Babangidas and Abachas of the north has not looted and mismanaged the economy, Asianya would not have been in the position to carry drugs - not with his educational background - period.

23 July 2008 21:22Greeting All,
Thanks all for your wonderful comment on this article about Mr. Frances Asianya. May I set few of the records straight? Mr. Frances Asianya was not in the United States as far back as in the 80’s. He left the United States before 1987. There is no where in his academic record that indicated that Mr. Frances Asianya earned a PhD. So I will advice the reporters to check out their information before putting it out for the public. I am ashamed as a Nigerian Doctorate prepared individual to have such a crime associated with such an honorable degree.

23 July 2008 22:45Tell me, who’s not a theif? Though what the Dr. did is totally out of place, he’s old enough to choose right from wrong. Thinking about the ridiculous amount (£4000) promised him to get the drugs accross shows he’s really ready to sacrifice himself for the sake of his child (if truely the child has hole in the heart). Qudos goes to the Nigerian government exposing its citizen to unnecessary risk, a land flowing with milk and honey, yet its populace can not enjoy produce of the country. Every one travels abroad for checkups and treatment, while heads of medical centers abroad are blacks, majority Nigerian. What a pity. Nigeria we hail thee!!!

For the issue of a particular race, discrimination has eating deep among ethnic groups in Nigeria and as such putting the minorities in a pitiable and helpless situation. Marginalisation and ill-treatment to a race is inhuman to mankind. ‘How you see am’.

24 July 2008 07:31We should all assume this bloke is a PHD degree holder simply because he says so? Please before such articles are printed, let the proper facts be ascertained. According to the article they have not yet been able to confirm if he actually is a doctor.
Omo Ortan
24 July 2008 08:34Did you all check whether the PhD is even legit? A journalist should confirm such information before publishing his “sensational’ news. I am a registered nurse in the US. If you have a child with huge medical problem, the state government adopts the child and you, the parent becomes the caretaker.
Dr Asianya, his qualification, his reason for pushing drugs are all lies. He should face maximum possible term. And DR, Prof, Chief..ask God to forgive you for wishing such a terrible situation on your daughter. (I am assuming that you have one)

24 July 2008 08:34Great job to NDLEA guys.
Qualification is not a criterion for one being a saint.
NDLEA guys should also watch Nigerian politicians that weekly embark on foreign trip on diplomatic passport.
I bet they commit worst crime than the poor doctorate degree holder.

24 July 2008 14:01I think the relevant authorities should set Dr. Francsi Asianya free, give him a house in Maitama, 2 jeeps (one for weekdays and the other for weekends), give his wife a car, attach between 6 to 12 mobile policemen for security and to accompany madam to the market and a very large expense account to settle all his minor debts . Then he should be given a merit award at the next “dashing away” of awards…preferably a GCON. His daughter should be referred to the clinic in which the Nigerian president is treated…and all medical bills should be undertaken by the Nigerian Government. When all Dr. Francsi Asianya’s domestic issues are settled, he should be given an appointment (preferably ministerial) by the Nigerian Government. And anybody who thinks this is nonsense should take a keen and focused look at the fabric of Nigeria’s present leadership…you will notice that it is filled with several Francsi Asianya- type individuals…chaps who carry bogus titles, think myopically, steal with total abandon and are highly praised by the average impoverished and abused Nigerian citizen!

24 July 2008 15:44We are looking at the demigogging of our beloved Nigeria. Academic qualifcation (achieved or unachieved) is not on trial here, why mention it. There are laws in the books now that deal with crimes. Spare all doctorial degree holders or doctorial candidate the mysery of having such an academic plateau dented as we try to mingle it with bad behavior.
let us see, Nigeria top executives get sick, they immediately fly out to be treated in the best hospitals abroad. Hospitals the could build and equip like they should. But they will rather steal the money for themselves. The poor masses are rigged into thinking they voted somebody into office, what happens? one to several days later, such officials are abroad buying and paying cash (hard currency) on things (assets) whose base price may begin with $2 million or more.
A visit to ones native country Nigeria, exposes Nigerian governace, making Nigeria as a tightly nit colony of band of thieves and hoodlums controlled by few friends. At every one or two miles on every high and local roads are check points. uniformed people waving, brandishing, and sometimes firing and killing innocent motorists and their passengers just to extract monies from these demised individuals. Remember the guns are offically assigned weapons that should have been used to protect those they kill and steal from.
It is easier to chronicle all our Nigerian woes, but I can only beg GOD, ALLAH, OLUWAH, CHINEKE. (what ever your language calls God, I believe HE is the same) to look into the plight of Nigeria. A nation so rich but still so poor. A nation so educated but still so illitrate. Nigerians, this is the time we need this miracle. Nigeria must be turned around. No matter where go to on this planet earth, you must find so many educated Nigerians, even those with governmental accumen. I urge this segments to stnd up now. We need them now. Nigeria is already sinking into decay.
NDLEA, deal with Dr. Francis on his own merit, but they are a bizzilion thieves and robbers in the high places in our down throdden oil producing land that should have benefited everybody. Does anybody even need to get out of the country in search of anything?
We must find a way to start singing God bless Nigeria.

24 July 2008 16:50I’m not a law enforcement officer or a legal professional, but based on what I read about how this investigation is being carried out and investigated, it is clear that they are not concerned with getting to the source “Barons” that sponsor these trips.
1. What is the importance of investigating if the main really holds a Phd in Architecture? That should be the job of the defence attoney in trying to get a reduced sentence for his client.
2. Why dosent NDLE setup a sting operation with the Interpol and other foreign authorities that would help them get to the bottom of these drug organization?
I personally do not help people deliver any luggage or package when I’m travelling. Many have stopped talking to me by indicating that I am arrogant, but I’ll live with that.

24 July 2008 16:52Having carefully reviewed the various commentaries, I want to say that it is high time Masterweb begin a people’s forum parliament online where readers meet daily online and reason over various social issues affecting our great Nation, Nigeria. I am enthused by the degree of responses from passionate readers who are deeply concerned and troubled over the deteriorating systemic failure.
I have the following recommendations regarding DR? Asianya’s drug ordeal:
1) Dr? Asianya’s allegation of his daughter’s heart problem (hole in the heart)? should be probed further to ascertain whether it is true. If it is true, the federal government of Nigeria should without delay sponsor the child’s treatment and save the poor girl from premature and painful death. Section iv (article 1) under the fundamental rights of the 1999 constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria affirms the poor girls RIGHT TO LIFE WHICH IS THE PREROGATIVE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT TO PROTECT. Dr? Asianay’s daughter’s case (if verified to be true) is just one of the numerous manifestations of the state of the weak state of the Nigerian Nation where the government is totally irresponsible to her obligations and to to the citizens.
2) Whether the allegation is true or false, Dr Asianay should be take responsibility for his action. He should be made to face the music BUT the presiding judge should be lenient on the ground that he was out there to fulfill an obligation, a FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHT , RIGHT TO LIFE which the Nigerian government owe his DAUGHTER, but failed to protect that.
3) Effort should be made to contact Kalu Nwankwo’s Heart Foundation Organization to see if they could render any help to save the poor girl from dying..(if true) who knows..she may be the Elie Jonhson of Nigeria?
4) It is time for the Yar’ Adua’s government to show that it is really a “servant” government and a government whose premise is build on rule of law. There is no security of life in Nigeria.
5) Finally and objectively, void of any sentiment, Who would fold his hand and watch his child struggle with death? Who would watch his child being drown in the river be clapping his hands? It will be helpful if we (on line People’s Parliament -OPP-)become more realistic while commenting on issues in which we may turn out to be the next victim within the shortest possible time (God forbid!! somebody will say) . Not that we would engage in drug trafficking, but health issues especially when our own blood is involved. I know that some can afford it, but above 70% of Nigerian lives in abject poverty, and may not be able to afford it. WHILE I PLEDGE TO NIGERIA MY COUNTRY….SO HELP ME GOD.

24 July 2008 17:48This whole story is false. This guy’s family lives in the US so what could he be paying for hospital treatment and it’s also a lie that he has a child with hole or whatever.Even if he does, this guy is rich and very comfortable and his brother is stinking rich perhaps a baron. So between them they can sort things out. It’s either their juju failed them or the new NDLEA tem aren’t playing ball with them if not it’s a shock that this guy can be caught. How can anyone promise him 4000 pounds he is too big for that kind of money abeg.Even his dressing when he was arrested will add up to more than that from shoes to wristwatch to glasses all designers. Be that as it may, I hope this arrest will not lead to the removal of some people in NDLEA cos this is a big fish they caught and they may have offended the powers that be…remember Ribadu?
All said and done, the legal system is not a detterent afterall because this guy will be fined a paltry sum like 1m that was fined the nollywood actress.I would think that 10yrs imprisonment is more like it becos any amount will be paid instantly…he definitely belongs to a group who are watching and doing their best to secure his prompt release. They should look at his passport and tell us how many times he has travelled abroad in 1yr..definitely more than 50 times and for what?

26 July 2008 15:33Whenever Nigerians have the liberty to pass comments on culprits and their criminal activities, it becomes all too easy to be carried away with feelings of (righteous?) indignation… we do a good job of vilifying others without pausing to ask ourselves if any of us even qualifies to judge another. (he who is without sin…)
The truth of the matter is that we are just a bunch of pathetic, self righteous sanctimonious hypocrites — Nigeria is simply a nation of greedy, materialistic, proud, selfish thieves who will do anything to maintain our hedonistic lifestyles. In every sector of our society– the government, financial, educational, religious, in every aspect of our lives as a nation, we engage in dodgy practices and we never hesitate to make scapegoats of the (unfortunate?) ones who are caught red handed in their crimes. Who is above reproach in Nigeria? Who??????????
No Nigerian should dare comment about individuals like the man in question about what punishment he deserves. I bow my head in shame and disgust and wonder how we will climb out of this quagmire of profound depravity. How do we take our place in the comity of nations and rid ourselves of this cancer of materialism that has eaten deep into our bones? What exactly does the future hold for us as a nation? What????
