Fashola Counsels Youngsters

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has advised the young ones to always ensure that they do not abuse the trust of people who believe in them at all times.

Fashola said this during a courtesy call on him by members of 36 Lions Football Academy, who were departing for a football tournament in the United States of America, at Lagos House, Marina.

He added that it is only by comporting themselves in a very dignifying manner and being at their very best when they get overseas can similar opportunities be extended to some other people in the future.

He warned that if the young footballers do anything to abuse the opportunity to travel abroad, they would have closed the door to several others coming behind and who may wish to benefit from similar opportunities.

He said his decision to write a recommendation letter to the American Consulate on behalf of the team was based on the trust and belief he had in its co-ordinator, who approached him for assistance.

The governor emphasised that the only difference between success and failure is how one reacts to an opportunity when it comes, urging the youngsters to grab the present opportunity with both hands.

Governor Fashola said he bankrolled the flight tickets of the team through some of his friends who did so because of the trust they had in him.

While wishing the team the best of luck and journey mercies, he charged them not to let him down.

In his response, the CEO of 36 Lion Soccer Academy, Mr. Gafar Liameed, said the boys who have been undergoing training in the last 11 years, will be going to Chicago in America to conquer the world.

He expressed the determination of the handlers to ensure that the boys go on to feature prominently in the U-17 team of Nigeria for international competitions.

Liameed thanked Governor Fashola for making the dream of the boys come true by funding the trip, promising that they shall not let him and his friends down.
