Students of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo State, who have up to three or four reference (carry-over) courses are expected to pay the sum of N80,000 to re-write the papers.
Campus Square gathered that during the institution’s Summer School, which will begin on 5 August, each student will not be allowed to re-take more than four courses.
Apart from the N1,500 that each student participating in the exercise will pay for registration, a student with one ‘carry-over’ course is expected to pay the sum of N30,000, and N50,000 for two courses respectively, while those taking three or four will pay N80,000.
The Summer School Programme was initiated by the school authorities to relieve students with carry-overs, the stress of waiting for another session before rewriting their exams.
At present, the affected students have been warming up for the commencement of the exercise.

30 July 2008 (5 weeks ago) 13:39It is good that the institution has made provisions for students with references but I must say that the money is too much. What the institution should do is to reduce the cut off mark that they use from 45-40 as other universities do and not make it difficult for student to pass with the hope of making more money from them through summer school. There are other things that the school needs to do such as improvement in their welfare services to students because the students are really suffering the lack of basic amenities that leads to poor performances and not just focusing on summer school alone and negleting to deal with the causes of the students poor performances
