Orile DPO Goes Tough On Social Miscreants

July 16, 2008 15:47, 164 views

By Bosun Awoniyi

The Orile Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mohammed Karmal, has clamped down on social miscreants known in local parlance as Area Boys in Orile Iganmu and its environs. The social misfits have been terrorizing residents and passers-by in the area through acts of violence and crime.

The DPO recently led his men on a raid and arrested their leader who was identified as Sule.  Dangerous weapons were found on him. P.M.News gathered that the newly posted DPO and his men rushed to the scene of a riot at Sanusi street in Sari Iganmu area of Orile, where they arrested more than 20 miscreants during the incident.

The miscreants had created an impression that there was a riot, and in the ensuing confusion, used dangerous weapons to rob innocent citizens.

P.M.News gathered further that the miscreants always created a riotous scene in the streets, and take advantage of the confusion of people running for cover to rob innocent citizens. They sometimes rape women. Majority of those arrested, P.M.News gathered, were young boys between ages of 17 and 25.

Residents of Sari Iganmu have expressed satisfaction with the DPO and his officers’ conduct which has brought peace and order to the area.

They said CSP Mohammed had proved to be an officer that cannot be intimidated, as he does what is right at the right time, no matter who was involved. The DPO enjoined the residents to give him maximum co-operation to enable him serve them judiciously.

He commended his officers who have been valiant in the battle against men of the underworld and other criminals in the area, and warned that any criminal arrested will face the wrath of the law.

I want to commend the CSP in the person of Mohammed Karmal who have been able to put the nefarious activities of these miscreants to check. Now that some of these guys are in Police custody, justice should be done and seen to be done properly and not justice for sale! Because there is nothing our Police can not do for money.
