Ego Boyo, once an actress and now a movie producer, opened up to OLAIDE ADEKUNLE on herself and what she does on her typical day
Q: How do you start your day?
A: My day starts as early as 6 a.m., when I wake up and pray, read my Bible and get ready for the day.
Q: What do you do after prayer?
A: I make sure I go to my children’s room to see them. I wake them up if they are still in bed or check if they are prepared for school, after which I get ready for my appointments if I have any for the day and if I don’t, I got to the gym.
Q: What makes your day?
A: Prayer. I pray and read my Bible everyday. If I don’t do it in a day, I don’t get relieved but that happened a long time ago because I don’t do without them now.
Q: Your favourite food?
A: I love good and delicious food, I do cooking practicals by trying different kinds of food, putting ingredients together to make something new. So, I love and eat uncommon foods.
Q: What about drinks?
A: My favourite drink now is water. I have discovered that nothing satisfies my thirst like water because when I was growing up, I was not just used to taking water, not that I didn’t want it, but it wouldn’t go, so I was living on soft drinks until I was growing older and started taking water. You wouldn’t believe that I take like four to five big bottles of water now, in a day, it’s always in my car and everywhere I go.
Q: What thrills you most?
A: I am always thrilled by movies because I watch them a lot. I can’t do without foreign movies, especially thrillers.
Q: How do you relax?
A: I relax by reading. I read a lot of books, at times, three or four books at the same time. I drop one for another like that till I finish all, especially books that are full of suspense.
Q: How do you relax with your family?
A: I will not tell you how I relax with my husband, but we do that in the very best way you can imagine and with my kids, we visit the cinemas, parks and eateries, particularly the Chinese restaurants.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Reading and travelling. Reading now, because I feel happy, excited and fulfilled when I’m able to finish a suspense-filled story and it ends the way I want it. I used to enjoy travelling, going places and meeting people, but I don’t find that adventurous again.
Q: What happened to Ann in Checkmate after Violated?
A: She decided to leave acting for movie production. I had always wanted to be a producer but one needs to start from somewhere. So, when the opportunity came in 1996, I produced Violated and acted in it as well and since then, I’ve being producing films.
Q: Your most memorable day?
A: I have memorable, happiest and unforgettable days. You will understand if you are married and with kids because those are my happiest days. Day I got married and days I gave birth to my children.
Q: How do you end your day?
A: I’m a very homely person, so whatever I do for the day and wherever I go, I retire back home latest 6.30 p.m., to be with my family and take my kids to bed.
Q: When do you sleep?
A: I told you I love movies, so I watch them a lot, but if Hubby, that’s my husband, is around, I go to bed early.
