AGN Warns Eucharia Anunobi Over Indecent Dressing
June 11, 2008 15:34, 1,217 views
Hn its bid to maintain discipline and decorium among its members, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has issued a warning to star actress, Eucharia Anunobi, over her indecent dressing.
This development followed Eucharia’s skimpy outfit that she wore at the Nigeria Music Awards (NMA) held a few weeks ago.
She has, however, been warned to desist from wearing such indecent attires in public or face the wrath of the guild.
When Nollywood Reel called the chairman, AGN Board of Trustees, Ifeanyi Dike, on phone over the issue, he said, “if the actress does not repent, strict action will be taken against her.
“Nollywood is not a platform for nasty acts, millions of people look up to us as role models and we are not going to let them down. What Eucharia did at the NMA was an embarrassment to the industry, and I see no reason for her to do that. Besides, the event was for musicians, not actors. So, if I may ask, what was her business there?” he fumed.
Dike added that since one of the paramount aims of the Ejike Asiegbu-led AGN is to uphold discipline, erring members will not be spared.
Nollywood Reel gathered that at the NMA held in Owerri, Eucharia was the cynosure of all eyes, not because she is a star actress, but due to her revealing attire.

11 June 2008 20:16I know this comment from AGN Board of Trustees chairman is beyond this Eucharia act of dressing. Please don’t expose your selves to the world, Ifeanyi Dike go and settle your differences with her . Apart from the so-called indescent dressing, she is a notable Nigeria star embedded with fames and whether she put on a garment or not ! People will still steer at her and you don’t have any right to check on where she has to be at a particular time, that’s her privacy , she is never your wife.
She has right like any other individuals to go to any function of her choice when invited, meanwhile she’s never my sister nor a friend but being fair to this comment of your and your so-called association of fighters.

12 June 2008 17:48Could it be that Florence have not seen the picture of Eukaria at the event or what?. For God’s sake actors/actress are teachers whatever they do or say means alot to the populace taht watch them on the screen. What type of message is Eukaria passing with her outfit. If florence had seen the picture of Eukaria taken at the event and still saying this then it means that they are birds of the same feather.

14 June 2008 08:03I was relieved to know that, Nollywood has any regulatory body that could comment on the shame and embarassment some of these actors and actresses are causing our society. I was shocked at the revealing outfit Eukaria wore in a movie this week on Nollywood station in London. We should learn from Bollywood how they still guide their culture jealously. Our film producers believe that Kissing, smoking, showing naked bodies on screens are signs of being civilised—NO! NO! NO!. They are getting it wrong. I tell my Coleagues in London with pride that, you can hardly see ladies smoking confidently on Nigeria streets. Such ladies are stigmatised as protitudes. We Nigerians in diasporal use the Nollywood films as a source of training our children about African cultures and traditions until Eukaria and her coherts are denying us this great opportunity .

19 June 2008 17:16Why the cry now, if her parents could not train her well and her husband is blind folded by love to check her excesses let her continue to shamefully reveal her private parts to the chagrin of our decent society. If we cry much they will call us ara oko (bush people)
Actresses please reveal more of your bodies to the public na fashion.

26 June 2008 18:59Believe me, i am totally disturbed and shocked that a married woman like Eukaria could dress like that to a function..God! Eukaria and are colleagues are nothing but a total disgrace to womanhood, to God, our society and the institution of marriage. Why would she not have problems with her marriage? She constitutes a bad example to her child…. Decent men and women should be ashamed of her. Repent or perish!

29 June 2008 16:21i was born in Ghana but brought up in England. right now i am 27 and in Accra, Ghana. we got to Ghana late last year. i am seeing and observing so much from my country that i most of the time ask a lot of questions. guys want to dress speak and behave like Americans. girls want to do same. it seems if you don’t do that (it is like) you are ……..i can hardly speak a Ghanaian english and i am very very worried.
when i saw the pics of the actress called UK, i thought she was a Briton but later got to know she got the UK from her native name.
her dress was the best as an African, but we shd also take it easy with her, it was unfortunate though.
there may be many reasons why she dressed the way she did, if you ask me.
1. may be she thinks that her European colleagues do the same and so it will look well in the eyes of the ‘African wise’
2. may be the price of the attire is big and so she thinks Africa will have no problem with it after all ppl ‘ll say “but do you know the price”? or but it is costly and so on.
3. may be she thinks a star must look different from non stars since it is function.
4. may be she thinks (African) society must learn from them and so she must have to look different.
the entire europe is very very different from Africa and so stars in Africa must only look up to their counterparts there professionally and leave things just there.
those in Hollywood etc are into so mnay practices that no ‘pure’ African star will EVER dream to do. eg. they make a lot of money from nude photos daily whiles their parents and husbands see nothing wrong with that. they allow us take pics of their nakedness all the time and they care not.
will UK allow me stand in front of her whiles she takes off her dress and pose for a picture??? HELL NO.
this is Africa THE LAND OF DECENCY, PRIDE, MANNERS AND VALUES.
my parents are happy that after all their daughters are back home in Ghana because of the lack of culture in Europe.
role models are exceptional in Africa.

6 October 2008 14:25I believe that our musicians, actors and actresses should be mindful of how they live their lives. I love UK’s acting and she is the best in Nigeria when it comes to the movie industry. As a child of God and a Preacher, I’m 100% against indecent dressing. But the problem with Nigerians is that they don’t know how to mind their own business. They must stop being BUSY-BODY and AMIBO. They are quick to judge Eucharia Anunobi but they have sisters and daughters who she(UK) is a thousand times better than. UK is an adult, therefore has every right to live her life the way she wants. She is accountable to GOD.
What are they talking about? The same people that allow kissing, smoking and nudity on Nollywood movies are trying to correct UK and Co. Pleaseeeee….. This is pure undiluted hypocricy.
UK is somebody’s wife and if her husband is not complaining then let it be. They’ve not finished running their own homes now they want to manage another man’s wife. If they want to correct her, must it be on the pages of Newspapers? It’s a waste to pass the right information via the wrong channel. Her right as a human being and a citizen must be respected.
I’m also taking the same position concerning 2FACE’s multiple pregnancy story and several scandals relating to other Nigerian Stars like Bimbo Akintola, Rita Dominic, Anita Morgan, Omotola, Jim Iyke, Ini Edo etc.
You can never correct or change people by condemning and threatening them. If you start that way, they will hate you and your message. Pray for them and correct them in love. That’s the only way it’s going to work.

14 March 2009 04:08pls people shd stop all this there rubbish, it’s only in Nigeria that i know people interfare in other people’s businesses, for God sake if she shd ware what she wants as olng as she is conforterble then i think it’s okay, but this Naija mentality will not allow one to move freely in the society simply b:cos of some villages, jelousy and the rest. Any way, as you want, but minding one’s business is the way forward in our society, so allow people to enjoy life as this life is just one.
