Catholic Priest Rapes 12-Year-Old Girl

A randy Catholic priest with the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Rev. Father Ogumbara Camilius, has allegedly raped a 12- year-old girl (names withheld).
He is now threatening the parents of the innocent girl to dare report the matter to law enforcement agencies. According to a petition sent to the Catholic Bishop of Port Harcourt, Rt. Rev. Dr. Alexius Makozi by Messrs. Styvn Obodoekwe, Chairman, and Secretary, Justice Ijeomah, of the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), and made available to P.M.News, the group alleged that the incident took place at the church premises after the innocent girl was lured into the apartment of the priest. CLO further revealed that before the incident, a Rev. Fr. attached to Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Holy Trinity Parish, Azuuabie, Okujagu, Port Harcourt, was sponsoring the young girl’s education in a school at Elele in Rivers State. It is also alleged that the priest with an uncontrollable libido exploited the girl’s poverty to entice her with gifts before she was raped. The girl was said to be on mid-term break when the incident happened. The CLO further alleged that the priest has boasted that he would use every means available to him to make sure that the Catholic Diocese of Port Harcourt does not act on the petition by the parents of the girl. The human rights organization said the inability of the Catholic authorities to punish the randy priest has given him more impetus to hire thugs to intimidate and physically assault the family. CLO says the incident has been reported to Rivers State Commissioner of police. CLO revealed further that the secretary of the church, William Felix Edet was also attacked in the church on Sunday during a church council meeting for daring to insist that the rape matter be investigated. The group is therefore demanding that the randy priest be fished out and brought to face the law, while adequate compensation be paid to the girl and her parents for the trauma they had gone through since the beginning of the rape saga.

12 May 2008 21:08This story is littered with contradictions and inconsistencies. The priest in question cannot be at CIWA as a student and be at the same time attached to a parish. No dates are given. I made efforts to confirm the story, as a catholic. My discovery is that the priest in question has been a full time student of CIWA for years. He is reputed to be exemplary. In fact he is rumoured to be a possible candidate for the bishopric. It appears that some people want to spoil his chances. In any case let the truth prevail. But this cannot be if journalists fail to investigate their stories before going to press.

13 May 2008 08:52This is a cooked story! Read and analyse it, you will see the picture of what happened. Stories like this should properly be investigated before it’s let out, because if you aim at damaging ones name you are indirectly bringing condemnation on your head.

13 May 2008 10:28I think agree with the two last readers.This story should be investigated and if the priest is found culprit,he should made to face the law of the land.And the victim should be rehabilitated and her family be compensated by the catholic church.

14 May 2008 14:13it’s a very bad story to hear. He should have resign from been a priest than committing the most absurd sin. It takes a strong heart for one to hold himself.
