By Lanre Babalola

Contrary to the rumour making the rounds that human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehimi, SAN, was dead, P.M.News can authoritatively confirm that the Lagos lawyer is still alive.

Chief Fawehimi who recently marked his 70th birthday is still recuperating at a London hospital after a cancer surgery.

Chief Fawehimi who spoke to P.M. News from his hospital bed this morning, said he was getting better and that he would return to the country soon.

“I am still alive. I am not dead. I am recovering slowly, my health is improving. Please help me tell Nigerians that I am still alive,” he said.

Gani’s ill-health which had seen him being treated in the London hospital for more than eight months now has been a source of concern to many Nigerians who missed his insightful criticisms of bad government policies and dogged stand on public issues.

One of his children recently came out to say that he had been diagnosed as having cancer.

Another human rights activist confided in P.M.News that the spread of the cancer had been controlled by specialists treating him at the London hospital.

“Gani is alive, don’t mind them. I spoke with him just now and he is still recuperating. I don’t know why some people are spreading rumours all over the place. It is a rumour, it is not true,” the activist who sought anonymity told P.M.News. this moirning.

How I pray that Gani will give his life to Jesus Christ for the salvation of his soul. The Lord will do it in Jesus name.
