•Sunday Akotomeh (Self employed): The issue of persistent fuel scarcity is a big disgrace to this country and its leadership. Here is a country that has abundant crude oil and other natural resources and can’t find a lasting solution to fuel crisis. My advice is that government should repair all the refineries so that there will be adequate fuel in the country.
•Kola Usman (Student): To me, the way out of the fuel problem is for the government to take necessary steps to see that the refineries are repaired. And if government is going to continue to import this vital commodity, let it be in abundance and put a permanent end to the persisting fuel scarcity in the country.
•Nwosu Chris: My view is that I believe government is doing business with the fuel issue, if not, a lasting solution ought to have been found to the crisis. The refineries are there, why can’t government use the money wasted on importation of fuel to repair them? Due to their selfish interest, they don’t want to repair them, after all, government knows that without fuel, the whole country will be grounded. Government should stop beating about the bush and make our refineries work. That is when fuel crisis can become a forgotten issue in this country.
•James Obonyiro (Commercial motorcyclist): The solution to fuel scarcity is that government should make efforts to repair the refineries. The issue of fuel importation has damaged a lot of things, while so many houses have been burnt due to the toxic and poisonous fuel imported into the country. Government should repair the refineries so that we can produce fuel for our own use here.
•Chris Okey (Student): The issue of fuel scarcity is annoying and the solution to it is not far fetched if government can stop its importation and make the refineries work in full capacity. There is no point importing fuel when we have abundant crude in the country. It’s just a question of fixing the refineries and the problem of scarcity will be over.
•Idris Yahaya: The solution to the fuel scarcity to fix our refineries and stop importation. If government can do this, I am sure the problem will become a thing of the past.
•Raimi Shuaibu: My own opinion is that government should try to proffer solution by all means. If it is importation, let it be in abundance and if it is to repair our refineries let that be done at once. Government should stop punishing its citizens.
•Okoli Chukwudi: All I have to say is that government should repair our refineries. If that can be done, the problem associated with fuel will stop or minimise. There is nothing to it, once the repairs are effected and the refineries are working in full capacity, there will be no need for importation and there wouldn’t be any reason for some importers to hold the whole country to ransom.
•James Gabriel (Accountant): This shows the type of government we have in this country. Why is it that a country like Nigeria, blessed with abundant natural resources, crude oil inclusive, should have to be suffer for fuel? The reason for the scarcity is not even clear to me. If the government wants to increase the price, it should come out and say it to Nigerians, instead of giving us unnecessary inconvenience every time. Government can invite foreign experts to assist in putting our refineries to work instead of wasting money on importation all the time.
•Theressa Aboah (Housewife): The issue of fuel scarcity is biting harder everyday and this has led to increase in transport fares and other consumable items. What I think should be the solution to the crisis is that government should try as much as possible to repair our refineries. I believe that if that is settled, fuel scarcity will become a forgotten issue in Nigeria.

12 June 2008 16:45The precise urgent require solution to the incessant petroleum scarcity should be urgent commencement of the building of new refineries in each of the state of the Federation in joint partnership and concert efforts with all state governors and minister of the capital terriotory-Abuja.But the problem s are very enomous with such project because implementation would rest with the unstable, unfocus and planless regime headed by Umaru Musa Yar’dua.A man who did not prepare himself for the duties of a president but who was dugged out from an obscure state-Katsina state in the Northern part of Nigeria. He brought the style he was noted with all the way from Katsina state to Aso Rock presidency. It was a glaring case of imposition of wrong candidate as presdient on Nigerians at this crucial time that the nation needs the services of a ready and prepare as well as well focus president to lead the nation out of the eight ruinous years of the vicious but anti-people presdient in person of Obasanjo who raked into the Federation account billions of dollars from the sale of oil daily which netted billions of dollars for the nation but were misappropriated and misapplied by Obasanjo and his crookish PDP ministers and hangers-on that looted the nation to the bone.Nigeria deserve a more focus, competent and gifted with vision and wisdom leader not like Umaru Musa Yar’dua who has turned the Nigeria presidency to Katsina state-mafia affair. All his ministers and hangers-on are more or less from Katsina state. The idea of Federal character does not count or have been dumped already just like as if Nigeria belongs to Katsina indigines alone.Nigeria is presently under a quagmire regime that is doom to fail woefully at the crucial end.The regime i predict would be worst far more than Obasanjo eight years that still governed with Federal character because, he sourced his ministers and CBN governor,NAFDAC,BPE,EFCC and others from NZigeria regions not Ogun state or Yoruba tribe alone.Obasanjo regime consisted all human elements from Kanuri,Fulani,Hausa,Ijaw,Ibos,Rivers,Okene,Edo,Deltas etc,but Yar’dua regime is mainly from the North ie Katsina indigines, period.Very one sided and abuse of the Federal character as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution. The nation is economically doom with the likes of Dr Shamusideen the finance minister in control of the nation’s economy.Nothing would be achieved except economic downturn,Nigerians should take note.Nigeria is the second largest oil export to the USA but Nigeria shamefully can not guarranttee regular oil supply to its domestic citizens.Yar’dua is in slumber not competent and awake.
